I know what you're thinking, "Wait! Where's part three of the Keeper of Pots sketch commissions!?" Or something like that? Well, as I mentioned previously, these pictures on the blog will be uploaded in chronological order. Kind of. And funnily enough, there was actually a gap between the second and third pictures in the Keeper of Pots sketch commissions. But don't you fret! Because we still have some Keeper of Pots art this week. However, this time he is joined by not one, but two other artists. Allow me to elaborate.
To be completely honest, the picture featured in this blog is actually a remake. The third, and bottom most picture uploaded here is the original. It's a picture of me in a jungle girl outfit, being coiled and hypnotized by Kaa, perhaps with some futile resistance. The artist no longer draws, and has wished to remain anonymous. And if I recall, the original artist was not too happy about this picture, as well as some others they made for me. So out of respect, I was not going to upload them to this blog, despite them predating a lot of other images here.
But going back to what I said earlier, the ACTUAL picture featured here is a remake of said picture. Keeper of Pots was rather taken with this artist's work, and one day decided to just draw a remake of one of their pieces on a whim. Though much like the original artist, I believe he was not too satisfied with this picture. Unlike the original artist however, it wasn't due to being not happy with his work. Rather, Keeper of Pots felt like it was a pale imitation of the first. Also, while borrowing ideas and working them into something else is fine, Keeper of Pots wasn't too big a fan of releasing a picture that was straight up a remake of a previous picture.
Back when he shared this picture with me, he was already hesitant to do so. And even more hesitant to upload to the Hub. It took a lot of convincing to finally get him to cave in, and upload this picture! I was a bit forceful admittedly, but that's because not only is this remake fantastic on it's own right, but also as I was working towards the 100 picture goal, it feels like it'd be a waste to just let an Erika picture hang out in limbo like that. So in between the Keeper of Pots sketch work commissions, we ended up getting another piece by him! And since the focus of this post is the remake, it'll be the one taking the spotlight, despite me usually viewing the colored version as the definitive version.
And on the topic of the colored version... I don't actually know how it came to be. Now, this story with the original artist, and Keeper's remake took place a long time ago. We're talking around June of 2015, with the original drawing being done maybe a year or so prior to that. Then suddenly, about three months ago as of this post, on January 2022, an artist known as "hotpot" on the Hub submitted a colored version of Keeper of Pot's drawing. As far as I know, Keeper never contacted the artist, and neither have I. Going by their other works, it seems like they like to color pictures on the Hub. I've never spoken to hotpot even after this picture, but I can only assume they chose this picture because they liked it! And if that's the case, I can definitely approve of their tastes! If you ever see this post hotpot, thanks for coloring this old picture~
Ps. I got into a random discussion with Keeper of Pots about this picture. He said that most people would prefer the original over his version, but I disagree strongly. If you have a preference between the two, please let me know! I'm curious to know which one of us is right.
