The Debut of Evilka.

Greetings once again! We are back this week with not only the debut of a new character, but a new artist and friend who we will be seeing a fair bit more of in this blog. That's right, this is the first image done by the ever amazing and personal close friend of mine, EdgeOfTheMoon or just Edge for short. Not only that, but it's the debut picture of Edge is ALSO an animation! Talk about making an entrance~ 

This would normally be the part where I'd talk about how this picture came to be and it's origins, or whatever other information I'd have. However, as I mentioned earlier, I am close friends with the artist of this picture. And so, I managed to get a comment from in about this piece! He actually goes over a lot of the information about the picture for me, so I'd best leave it to the original creator to describe this wonderful piece:

"I hate some of my old art but this one holds up I think! Had only been drawing again for a few months when I did this

This pic is how me and Eri met. I told Keeper I had met someone with "Inverse Erika hair" and mentioned how it might be Erika's evil twin and he introduced us so I could warn her. Ended up liking the idea of Evilka so drew this!

Animation is a pretty simple tween. The head, eyes and Evilka's arms are all made up of different images being moved around

For the design I just inverted everything. Not just the hair but also the eye and clothes color. Also it's a bit hidden but Evilka's shirt has a cracked skull and a complete heart"

 

Yeah, that about sums up the backstory on the piece and ALSO how Edge and I met. We've been good friend ever since! Evilka is a fairly underutilized character, but we will be seeing her around in the future. Personally, I've always been a fan of alter or evil versions of characters. So when Edge brought this up to me, as well as the idea itself... well I couldn't say no! I never expected it to be an animation though. And speaking of animations...

 

 From my perspective, I had actually known about Edge for a few months at this point. He and I had never spoken before, but I'd seen some of his animations on the Hub. At the time though, he was mostly a manipper and also animating previously drawn pictures. I was a really big fan of how smooth his animation manips were. I always thought to myself: "I wonder if I could ever get him to animate an Erika picture...?" Though I never actually tried to initiate contact with him. As stated in the quote above though, through sheer coincidence he ended up contacting me. And it just so happens that Edge was trying to become an artist at the time, so we got an original picture that's ALSO an animation.

 

The picture itself is fairly straightforward with a dom swinging a pendulum and hypnotizing the sub. But I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Sometimes simple is best. Edge made this piece to debut a funny idea and character, and I'd say he did a great job. Heck, even the artist himself says the piece holds up!
