So... Remember how in my previous post I expressed my unjustified disdain of the previous picture done by NeoAkatsuki? Well being the great guy that he was he actually offered to do another picture for me since I wasn't quite satisfied with the previous one. I'm not really one to turn down something like that but honestly it was here where I really felt like I might've been taking advantage of him and I didn't like that feeling.
After thinking about it more I did say that he didn't have to do it anymore but supposedly he was happy to do another one and he even sent me this sketch of what was to come. I was actually extremely happy to see this preview. Even today I think this kind of composition is very rare to see in a Kaa picture and I'm definitely a big fan of the angle!
Unfortunately though this story doesn't quite have a happy ending. Shortly after sending me this preview NeoAkatsuki disappeared. He stopped signing onto MSN messenger which was our preferred method of contact. (Which goes to show how long ago this was.) And soon his Deviant Art account closed. It was definitely depressing to see him go and also to see this picture unfinished. I sincerely hope I wasn't the reason he disappeared but we never left on bad terms and he seemed excited to finish this piece. I just wish whatever the reason he left wasn't actually a bad reason.
I waited a long time to see if he would ever come back but it wasn't meant to be. Even now in the year of 2020 I haven't seen him around and this picture remains unfinished... However while the picture never did finish by NeoAkatsuki eventually I did commission a different artist to finish the picture. I couldn't let such a great idea go to waste! That's a post for another time though.
