We're back this week, this time with quite a doozy of a picture. A single page comic by the one and only: Keeper of Pots! Featuring a comic about me being hypnotized in various ways, by various different household appliances. Note, that not all items seen in this comic are found in the average household. As a bonus, since this one page comic comes with a title, that means I don't have to come up with one myself! It's the small things we have to be thankful for~
So where to begin with on this piece...? To be honest, I couldn't really say where the idea of this picture came from, nor the inspiration for it. What I can say though, is one day Keeper of Pots told me he was working on a secret project of his. I asked him what it was, but he refused to elaborate it to me. All he told me was "it features an OC from the Hub". And I remember at the time it kind of made me a bit sad to hear, as I could've sworn at the time that he said he would be doing an Erika project next. Nonetheless, looking at it after the fact, it's clear to see he worded that in a way to get under my skin... while also still telling the truth. Very clever use words there! So that particular detail has stuck with me after all these years.

Before we continue though, I do have a bit of a creator's note from the author himself:
"I don't recall exactly how this particular idea came to be, but I s'pose it's not a huge leap in logic to come up with an idea like this.
A few fun things however. The 50's hypno gun is a reference to "The Hypno Gun", a 1952 comic by Carl Barks. It stars Donald and his nephews as he observes them playing with the epnymous toy. They pretend to hypnotize each other but Donald believes it to be real, and takes it away from them. Before he throws it away however, the possibilities of being able to hypnotize people dawns on him and he decides to pay his uncle Scrooge a visit... A very fun story, even if I don't consider it fetish fuel!
Also the panels in which Erika was hypnotized by giant purple tentacles became a prequel for a later comic I did (Erika helped me brainsstorm) called "Daze of Our Wives". It features Erika having a reunion with said tentacle, but that's for another time, I s'pose.
I think this was also the first time I had drawn myself into one of these comics, going for a bit of a chibi style here. I swear it's not how I met Erika in real life. But she does make for a very cute hypnotized and naked artist's assistant!"

So it seems that even the creator isn't sure how this idea came to be. But even so, the idea itself is a timeless classic! The idea of being hypnotized by random household objects is not only funny, but it also shows off how easily hypnotized I am. And as another fun fact, Keeper of Pots also mentioned how two panels in this picture became a prequel a full fledged comic right? We've been discussing a possibility of each of these ideas perhaps spinning off into their own ideas. In fact, a future idea has myself hypnotized and trapped in a snake terrarium, which while technically not related to this one, COULD be interpreted as it was an inspiration. So going off of that, perhaps basing a comic or a standalone picture inspired by these ideas, with this picture itself being kind of like a hub world for those potential comics or pictures would be pretty cool. A HYPNO HUB if you will.
There would be a lot to cover with this picture based on the expressions alone, as there are so many different inductions and expressions here. Usually I'd like to highlight that in my blog entries, but this time with so many of them, I'd rather just go over my favorite one. All of them are really good, but in the end I think I'd default to the Kaa one. Just the happy and blissful look as I press against the glass trying to get in is super cute. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, there is a future snake terrarium picture. And while this picture had nothing to do with that idea, perhaps on some subconscious level I decided that idea based on this snake panel. But more on that whenever we get to that entry.
And finally, as a small little bit of trivia... back on the old Hypno Hub when you had to use existing pictures as avatars, I had the upper left Erika as my avatar for years. Pretty much as soon as this picture was uploaded in 2015, to when the Hub changed it's core systems in 2022. So RIP old Erika profile picture...
