The Debut of... Hypno Team!

Hoo boy, do we have a pretty funny (and of course lewd) picture this week! Done by the ever amazing and creative Psi, we have the cover for the comic of Hypno Team! As it says, the team consists of four super heroines who all share a similar super power... being easily hypnotized of course! Why were these four girls chosen to be apart of this team when there are so many other characters with at special ability though? Well let's go over why here.

 

Back in 2015 on Hypno Hub, there was a forum post about how many pictures certain characters have. Of course there are really popular fictional characters we see in hypnosis art a fair bit like Mowgli from The Jungle Book, or Raven from Teen Titans. But overtime, the discussion drifted towards ORIGINAL characters specifically. And after doing a quick count, it was discovered that these four characters had the highest count for hypnosis based pictures of original characters at the time. The characters in question are: Erika owned by myself, Hypno-tan the Hypno Hub avatar, Crystal owned by Zko, and Kassidy owned by Medri.

 

I'm sure the tally these days is something far different, but back then these four characters were highest in terms of pictures on the Hub as far as original characters go. Normally that'd be a fun bit of trivia and we'd leave it at that. But something spurred in Psi when he saw that tally, and it gave him the inspiration to create this piece! Taking the most popular OCs at the time, he stuck them together on a team and gave it that old timey comic book flair to create this. You really gotta respect how many little details went into this comic cover to make it as authentic as possible. Such as the slight filter on the coloring to match that olden day style of comics, the exaggerated faces near the title, the twenty cents price, the campy over-the-top dialogue, and probably a bunch of other tidbits I missed. I'm actually not much of a comic reader...

 

And we also have a varied bit of inductions here! With myself being hypnotized and coiled by a singular tentacle, Hypno-tan hypnotizing herself with a pendulum, Crystal being ensnared by something on her phone, and Kassidy brought to attention by a hypnotic visor! Each induction and expression has a little bit for someone here, and all of them are great. However, I might be a tad biased, but if I were to pick a favorite out of the four, I'd have to go with my interpretation here. The coiling plus crotch rub and hypnotic eyes with some drool? Plus that eager expression as well! Definitely sign me up for that.

The other characters minus Hypno-tan are owned by other artists as mentioned (both artists have also been featured on this blog as well) and when they saw this piece, both were also equally as enthused! With Medri doing a solo Kassidy picture in her Hypno Team outfit, and Zko doing his own tribute picture (which will be featured here at a later date). The idea also inspired some sequel issues, and fan art from other artists too. All of which we will be seeing in the future. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but this might be the first time I've been featured in a picture with other original characters drawn by an artist who wasn't that character's original owner? It's a strangely specific thing to make note of, but it's good to keep track of these things when you're taking a trip down memory lane!

Edit (August 15th 2022): The first time I was paired with an OC drawn by the artist who didn't actually own the OC was the Keeper of Pots comic, which featured myself and Saalim, who is owned by plsgts.
