Greetings once again! We're back again this week with a piece that's aptly fitting for the title. And funnily enough, the title isn't something I came up with for this piece. It's actually something the original artist Jockbock came up with. Unfortunately, the original piece no longer exists, as the artist has long since closed their Deviant Art account, but much like the previous entry on the blog, the link was saved as a source on Hypno Hub, thus I'm able to pull the title from there.
This is a picture I personally commissioned from Jockbock... However I'm not going to beat around the bush this time. With my blog entries, I've done my best to be positive with the pieces I've submitted here. Despite every artist having their own style, and every piece being of different quality, I can say that I love them all for different reasons. So with a heavy heart, I can say that this piece would probably be the first one that I have negative impression of.
I first encountered the artist Jockbock on Deviant Art. While searching through snake related hypno art, I came across their page. While primarily a furry artist, they had some human x snake drawings. And the stuff that I saw were actually pretty darn cute! So naturally I decided to commission them ASAP. But wait! For those of you have been reading my blog from the start, you might have noticed something. Specifically the part about me saying "While I was searching through snake related hypno art" part.
You see, at this point in my hypno picture commissioning career I hadn't actually been doing that as much anymore. I actually encountered Jockbock very early on in my hypnosis commissioning days. The thing is, they took a very long time to get to my commission. I'm sure a lot of people have who commission artists a lot have experienced something similar, if not worse. This was the first time for me though, as I hadn't heard any news from the artist for around seven or so months.
Eventually it got to the point where I had to bug them about the commission myself. Perhaps it's something I should've done sooner, but I've never had to personally hound an artist for an already paid for commission. And I know that no one really likes to be bugged about it. So I was rather hesitant to do so... until I finally gave up and did. Turns out that they forgot about my commission entirely! And when they started working on it, I was so flabbergasted honestly.
In the end I received this piece we see here. In my opinion, definitely many steps below in terms of quality compared to their previous pieces. I thought so immediately after seeing it. However, I was too annoyed to even say anything. Usually I'm actually quite the stickler and rather picky when it comes to commissions, but for this one, I just wanted the exchange to be over honestly. So I took what I got and never spoke to them again. So in the end we have this Kaa x Erika picture which looks like a piece of modern art and not in the good way.
Honestly, it pains me to write a mostly negative blog entry this time around, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. This blog was primarily a way to store the Erika related art without fear of anyone taking it down, and the recaps I write are just a nice bonus. Not every picture has a nice story to it, and this certainly won't be the last one. It's a shame that it was the first though! But hey, at least there aren't too many of them, as being a part of the hypno art commissioning team for the past few years has mostly been a blessing!
